My name is Katy Dunn and I am the creator of Sea Bling Jewelry in eastern North Carolina. Having grown up in Carteret County, I spent a great deal of my youth combing the beaches for anything I could find. Hunting for shark's teeth, shells, sea glass and driftwood just seemed natural to me. Several years ago I began designing and making sterling silver jewelry with sea glass that I'd found on the beach. It quickly became much more than a hobby! The idea of merging my passions and creating beautiful, custom jewelry from natural materials just felt right! Five years later, I am still combing the beaches and creating pieces that truly are one of a kind. Sea glass is found on shorelines worldwide and is any glass element that has been thrown or landed in the sea and then naturally tumbled by the action of the waves and currents in the sandy ocean floor. It's always fun to try to guess the origin of the glass and how it ended up there - a shipwreck, perhaps? Only authentic sea glass is used in Sea Bling jewelry, most of which I've collected on the North Carolina shores of the Atlantic Ocean. I also have pieces that were given to me by family and friends from the distant shores of Mexico and Puerto Rico to the shores of Virginia and Florida. In addition to using sea glass, you will also find many types of shells, sea pottery, driftwood, pearls, mother of pearl and anything unique and interesting that might be found on the beach. Custom work is my specialty so please don't hesitate to contact me for that special piece you may have in mind. If you have a piece of sea glass or any other treasure, I will be happy to design something specifically for that.
